How do we know God Exists? Discussion pt. 1

Hi Girls! It's Brynn putting up the first questions for our new study at BLAST. I probably won't be able to be with you consistently on Sunday nights, but I'm praying for you all and will hopefully be able to be a part of some BLAST happenings.

The study on Sunday nights is So What: Knowing the God who is. The plan is that there will be questions and discussion on the blog throughout the week. The first session deals with the question "How do we know God exists?" This question is part of the catechism and the answer is "God exists and reveals his invisible attributes--his eternal power and divine nature--in creation."

Creation is not the only way we know God exists. God's Word and the Holy Spirit also reveal his existence.

Open your Bible to Psalm 19:1-3.

What in these verses declares the glory of God and what proclaims his handiwork?

Turn and read Romans 1:18-20. How does Psalm 19:1-3 compare to Romans 1:18-20?

  1. I love those verses in Psalms. For me, thats one of the ways I know God exists. The stars and all of the brilliant creation didnt just get here by accident, God must have made them!
At first I didnt get the Romans passage but thanks to God I finally understood them.Well at least in the way God wanted me to. Maybe we'll all understand them differently. I dont know.
Anyhoo, what i think it means is that the stars arent actually Gods wrath, they reveal Gods power and awesomeness. Poeple cant deny the stars, how amazing they are. When God finally comes back, no one can say 'but no one told me about God'. The truth of Gods awesomeness is Too evident in the stars. They cant ignore those jewels in the sky. Thats what I think!!

  2. Loved reading your comment Lydia! Everything I think of with these verses is there! Love these passages. God is so so evident especially when i look at the sky: the moon, stars and clouds always amaze me.

"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."

  3. I agree!! I love those verses in the Psalms.
That is one of the main ways that shows God exists to everyone even if they don't read the Bible. I think that very often we all take that for granted!
In school we all had a discussion with this girl who isn't a Christian and every time she said an explosion created the Earth, we'd say who created the explosion? This went on for a while but the answer always lead back that someone made it! I think it is very evident that God made it because who else could have made every thing so amazing?? That defiantly wasn't an accident...
    Thats what I think!!:)xx

I know this comment is a bit late but anyway it's up before BLAST !! (wooo blast is awesome)

Anyway...i think that these verses really show us that god is doing everything to tell all people that he is real and to beleive in him. It is evident in simple things, we just dont really think twice about, like the sky and stars... we just cant deny god's existence - to awesome for words :)
so..everything around us is to amazing that we just can't ignore god's handiwork!
